Reefer Backup Power System
Late last year, a business relation came to us with a specific problem, for which a solution was needed. This relation used reefer containers in an area with a very unreliable main power supply, which often resulted in a loss of power. Seeing as the main cargo of these containers contains food, it’s very important to ensure a constant power supply for these units. In short, this customer was looking for a solution which guaranteed a constant power supply for reefer units.
The RBP-system from Harbour Reefer Service
To solve this problem, we developed a so called Reefer Backup Power System (RBP-system). This system utilizes a clip-on generator set (genset) which automatically starts when the main power is lost. The genset will provide power to the reefer unit until the main power is restored. Additionally, the genset will automatically stop running after the main power is restored, ready for the next power outage. Curious about this system? With this RBP-system, our customer is guaranteed with a constant power supply, which means the cargo within the container is always the right temperature and will stay this way.
